Abstract

Currently, many online media write news about sexual violence, especially sexual violence against women. When reporting, there are often violations of the Journalistic Code of Ethics, both in terms of visualization and language. This violation concerns the privacy of women who are victims of sexual violence and become increasingly embarrassed and depressed. Based on this phenomenon, this research aims to analyze how the online media iNews.id applies the Journalistic Code of Ethics. The method used is a quantitative description method, with data management using content analysis, namely describing how much implementation has been carried out by the online media iNews.id in implementing the Journalistic Code of Ethics by Article 4 and Article 5. The results of this research show that the application of the Code of Ethics Journalism from 10 iNews.id online media reports that are following Article 4 and Article 5, there were 18 words observed and analyzed. These words or sentences show that 72.2% of reports on sexual violence published by iNews.id have implemented the Journalistic Code of Ethics, while 27.8% were deemed not to have fulfilled the Journalistic Code of Ethics (violations). Thus, it can be concluded that iNews.id Online Media is considered to be quite applicable.
