Abstract
Financial distress is a stage of decline in financial conditions that occurred before bankruptcy. This study aims to examine the effect of profitability, liquidity, leverage, and activity on financial distress. Profitability is measured by return on assets, liquidity is measured by current ratio, leverage is measured by debt to asset ratio, activity is measured by total assets turnover, and financial distress is measured by Altman Z-Score. This research was conducted on South Korean entertainment companies listed on the Korea Stock Exchange (KRX) for the 2016-2020 period. The data collection method used in this study was obtained using a purposive sampling method, namely the selection of samples with certain criteria. Based on certain criteria, a research sample of 17 South Korean entertainment companies listed on the Korea Stock Exchange (KRX) which were taken from 2016 to 2020. The analytical method used is descriptive statistical analysis, classical assumption test, multiple linear regression analysis, coefficient of determination test (R2) and t-test using SPSS version 25 program. The results showed that partially the profitability variable (ROA) had an effect on financial distress with a significant value of 0.000 <0.05, liquidity (CR) had an effect on financial distress with a significant value of 0.000 <0.05, leverage (DR) had an effect on financial distress with a significant value of 0.049 <0.05, activity (TATO) has an effect on financial distress with a significant value of 0.000 <0.05.
