Abstract

Utilization of electricity from renewable sources is increasingly being done by the community because electricity costs are also increasing from year to year. Especially the use of solar cells more and more done by the community because the price of solar cell panels and also all equipment that is increasingly affordable. The large amount of information regarding installation and all matters related to online sites creates confusion for new users who are just installing a solar cell system, whether to use a monocrystalline or polycrystalline panel. In this research has resulted in monitoring solar cell work systems to find out the difference between monocrystalline and polycrystalline solar cells from the power generated by logging data and also to determine the efficiency of the panel size of the power produced. This equipment is using monocrystalline and polycrystalline solar cell, Arduino UNO R3, voltage divider and current detector circuits, Micro SD storage modules and 20x4 LCD. After measuring and testing for 14 days between the two types of solar cells which have same 10WP specification, the average peak power measurements of the two types of solar cells, monocrystalline, produced power of 8.74W and polycrystalline 7.94W so that the difference in power was 9.18% with monocrystalline solar cells better than polycrystalline solar cells. Monocrystalline solar cells producemore power even in cloudy conditions or in the shadow of objects.
