Abstract
This study was conducted to the differences in financial performances of PT Kalbe Farma Tbk before and after it had acquired a company in 2012, based on an analysis of financial ratios. In this study, the financial ratios used consisted of liquidity ratios (CR, QR, and Cash Ratio), activity ratios (TATO and FATO), profitability ratios (NPM, ROI, ROE and EPS), and leverage ratios (DER and DAR). As a descriptive research, the location of this study was in PT Kalbe Farma Tbk with data collection in Indonesia Stock Exchange. The results of this study indicate that there are some differences on the financial perfomance of PT Kalbe Farma Tbk between before and after acquisition based on analysis of financial ratios. An overall decreasing trend can be found on the liquidity ratios (CR and QR), activity ratios (TATO and FATO), profitability ratios (NPM, ROI, and ROE), and on one of the leverage ratios (DER) after PT Kalbe Farma Tbk had performed the acquisition, while an increasing trend was found on the other leverage ratio (DAR) and on one profitability ratio (EPS). Based on this descriptive analysis of the financial ratios, the increase in some financial ratios show that the acquisition has given a positive impact on the overall financial performances of the company.
