Abstract

As one of the renewable energy extractors, wind turbines have an important role in overcoming problems that require energy. Wind turbines are technologies that convert wind energy into electricity. Savonius rotor blades are simple wind turbines that can be used on the drag concept. Turbine has the potential to be developed because it has a simple turbine, construction and is very suitable for low wind speeds. Savonius rotors can be designed with two or three blades in a single or multi-level level. Wind turbines with perpendicular axis axis positions (Vertical Axis Wind Turbines / VAWT), are turned into the spotlight of many researchers because of their kind which can be used to increase extraction. Savonius wind turbine type S two blades with pulley drive using a pulley large enough to increase the ability of the rotor at low speed. In this study carried out to get the maximum work by making the drive from the pulley, set the pulley can be given 1: 8 (1 rotation of the turbine produces 8 rotors of the rotor). The results of this study were obtained from wind turbine turns with a blower range of 40cm, 50 cm, 60 cm, 70 cm and 80 cm, the voltage generated by the generator also varies according to the wind speed of the blower that regulates the distance
